Lakhimpur district health department has been conducting the routine immunization sessions at various riverine areas by the teams of boat clinic amidst the nationwide lockdown.
Medical teams in boat clinics have been docked at various riverine areas of the district where Children in various age groups were administered the immunization by maintaining physical distancing.
Similarly, the ongoing Assam Community Surveillance Programme (ACSP) was conducted by Lakhimpur district health workers with door to door visits checking flue, respiratory-related cases as well as the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the emergency aroused due to the spread of COVID-19 has seen quarantine of 126 persons on the day in Lakhimpur district.
This jump in the number of quarantined persons in a single day has been attributed to the increased numbers of people arriving in the district from outside Assam.
Presently there are 7160 persons being put into quarantine in Lakhimpur district among whom 4473 persons have competed their 28 days long quarantine.
One doctor and six health staff, who had earlier served in the isolation ward in shift duties in Telahi Model Hospital with one COVID-19 positive patient, were put in a quarantine facility in a hotel in North Lakhimpur.
The Lakhimpur district administration has readied quarantine facilities for three thousand persons in various installations in North Lakhimpur to accommodate the arrival of people from outside the state by train.
More quarantine facilities would be arranged in schools and Anganwadi centres in all the Rural Development Blocks in the district if the numbers of arrived persons cross three thousand, said an official.
Likewise, those travelling to the district by buses would be checked in Tezpur in Sonitpur district and be brought to Lakhimpur if found COVID-19 negative.
The Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Jeevan B has also allowed the opening of all hardware stores in the district considering the urgent demand of goods and materials for the completion of all departmental construction works before the onset of the monsoon.
In an order vide LMJ8/2020/126, Dated 11 May 2020, DC Dr Jeevan allowed the opening of the hardware stores in Lakhimpur district under Section 30(2) (v) of Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The order made it mandatory for the employees and staffs of the stores to put on face masks, adherence to strict social distancing, maintenance of proper hygiene in shops and premises with the provision of handwash and sanitizers.
