Names of many roads, villages and localities in Assam are likely to be renamed very soon.
This was informed by Assam housing and urban affairs minister Ashok Singhal recently.
Many localities in Assam’s capital city Guwahati are also likely to be renamed.
Localities such as Sarabhati and Doompara in Guwahati are likely to get new names.

Renaming of roads, villages and localities in Assam will be done as part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations.
The Assam government reportedly will soon launch a portal for seeking suggestions from the general public for name changing.
Deputy commissioners of every district will take a call on renaming of any particular road, village or locality based on the suggestions from the public.
