Women Economic Forum

A four-day regional conference of the Women Economic Forum got underway in Guwahati on February 21, at Hotel Taj Vivanta here.

The theme of the regional conference is People, Planet and Profit: A Northeast India Perspective. More than 300 men and women are expected to participate in this event.

WEF organizes these meets to empower women through peer exchange, networking with successful entrepreneurs, expand their business opportunities and increase their global influence.

Speakers from different fields will deliver talks on subject like geo-political landscape of Northeast India, connectivity is not a luxury but a lifeline, matrilineal society of the Northeast, role of the Sattras in Rural Economy and others.

Around 75 people will be awarded in different categories at the meet.

Alakananda Das is the Chairperson of Assam chapter of All Ladies League (ALL). Entrepreneurs, social activists and leaders from Northeast states like Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram etc are set to attend the meet.

Women Economic Forum was founded in 2015 by the All Ladies League (ALL) in 2015. The All Ladies League has around 15,000 members across 150 countries, with chapters in different places of India, including the Northeast region.
