Will a strong earthquake hit the Northeast region? Yes, we need to be concerned about the future earthquake.
The reason why we need to be worried about is in the month of August alone, a total of eight earthquakes jolted Assam and other parts of the Northeast.
The latest earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale happened at 4:21 am on Monday.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the epicenter of the earthquake was south Assam’s Cachar district.
While the earthquake had latitude of 7.7 degree N and longitude of 92.7 degree E, it had a depth of 10 Km.
The biggest earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale happened at 05:40:33 am while the epicenter was Ukhrul in Manipur.
Not only that, the region was hit by eight similar earthquakes in the month of August.

Since 2001 Bhuj earthquake, it was calculated that 70 percent of the Himalayas could experience an extremely powerful earthquake.
The prediction came from research of the historical records from the area as well as the presumption that since the 1950 Medog earthquake enough slippage has taken place for a large earthquake to occur.
In 2015, the Himalayas were hit by another large earthquake with an epicenter further west in Nepal.
But interestingly, the northeasteastern region is become the new hotspot for earthquake epicenter and this is not normal.
The northeastern region fall under the Zone IV of earthquake which is known as the High Damage Risk Zone.
