Transition from students’ leader to politician for Pramod Boro on Tuesday started with a shocking gaffe — “Himanta Biswa Sarma is Assam Chief Minister”.

Addressing a gathering at Kokrajhar in Assam after taking oath as the new Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Executive Member (CEM), Pramod Boro addressed Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Minister of Assam.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Pramod Boro said that “Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma” has been instrumental in curbing insurgency in the State.

He said, “I believe that under the able leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, other insurgent outfits of the State, like the rebel groups of Bodoland, too will come to the negotiating table, which will usher peace and development in the State.”

Notably, Pramod Boro addressed Sarbananda Sonowal as the Assam Chief Minister and Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Assam Health, Finance and Education Minister throughout the entire length of his speech.

However, this was the one and only instance during his speech where Pramod Boro addressed Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Assam Chief Minister.

Video clippings of Pramod Boro addressing Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Assam Chief Minister has now gone viral in the social media.

Meanwhile, new BTC Chief Pramod Boro has issued a clarification saying that him addressing Himanta Biswa Sarma as Assam Chief Minister was unintentional.
