Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday morning landed at the Rowriah Airport in Jorhat district on a day-long Assam visit.
Modi’s visit to Assam is significant keeping in view of the ensuing state Assembly polls 2021.
After landing in Jorhat on a special aircraft, Modi has left for historic Jerenga Pathar in Sivasagar district of Assam in an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter.
At Jerenga Pathar, Prime Minister Modi will address a huge rally.
He will distribute over 1 lakh land patta (allotment certificates) to indigenous people at Jerenga Pathar.
Informing about his visit to Sivasagar, Modi in Assamese tweeted on Friday: “Tomorrow, I will be with the people of Assam. In a function at Sivasagar, 1.06 lakh land pattas (allotment certificates) will be distributed. We are committed to working all that is possible for the protection of the rights and diverse culture of great state, Assam.”
While welcoming the PM, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted: “Welcome Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi,” adding, “Every occasion of PM @narendramodi ji’s visit to Assam has become synonymous with unprecedented development & transformation. Today, we once again mark the beginning of a new age of empowerment for the people of Assam.”
Informing about the visit of PM Modi, Assam finance minister and BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma said he has already visited the venue to inspect the preparations and arrangements.
“In a historic event to mark empowerment of people, Hon PM Sri @narendramodi shall distribute over 1 lakh patta (allotment certificates) to indigenous people on Jan 23 at Sivasagar. Visited the venue to inspect preparations & arrangements. We are glad to have PM bless us again,” minister Sarma said.
