South Salmara Mankachar Police have arrested one person from Manullapara area and seized a huge consignment of explosive materials from his possession.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Rezzak Ali, son of late Jobed Ali, a resident of Manullapara village under South Salmara police station of Dhubri district.

Acting on specific information, a police team led by deputy superintendent of police (HQ), South Salmara Mankachar, Arif Ahmed and a team of Army, jointly launched a search operation at the Manullapara village at midnight of Saturday and arrested the accused from his residence.

The joint team also recovered a huge consignment of explosives including 200 numbers of gelatin, 1100 numbers of detonators, 200 metres of Cordtex safety wire and one smartphone.

Police officer Arif Ahmed said after observing all the legal formalities, the explosive articles were seized and a case has been registered against the accused.

“Further investigation is going on,” the police officer said.
