Notorious criminal – Asababu Ali has been shot dead in an encounter with the police in Assam’s Darrang district.
Asababu Ali (40), is one of the prime accused in the sensational case of murder of senior High Court lawyer – Binay Kumar Ghosh in Mangaldoi in 2014.
Ali is also accused of several dacoity cases in recent times.
Asababu Ali has been killed in an encounter on late Tuesday night with the police near Kopati under Dalgaon Police Station in Assam’s Darrang district.

“The encounter took place near Dhansiri river in Kopati. The criminal tried to overpower a police team that arrived at the spot after receiving a tip in regards to a dacoity, which Ali was planning,” a police official said under condition of anonymity.
Asababu Ali was seriously injured in the encounter and was admitted to the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
The police, meanwhile, recovered sharp weapons and other materials that were to be used for the ‘planned’ dacoity and burglary, from the possession of the slain criminal.
Speaking to Northeast Now, Darrang SP – Sushanta Biswa Sarma said: “The incident took place on Tuesday night in Dalgaon area and one notorious criminal was killed.”
