As many as 647 Covid 19 positive cases have been reported from 14 states and UTs across India including Assam which has Tablighi Jaamat connection, said Union Health Ministry on Friday.

‘In last two days 647 Covid positive cases have been reported from 14 states and UTs in India,” said Lav Agrawal, joint secretary in the Health Ministry.

He said that states like Andaman, Assam, Delhi, HImachal Pradesh, Haryana, J&K, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharastra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have reported positive cases.

“In last 24 hours 12 deaths have been reported from across India and most of which has linkage with Jaamat cluster,” said Agrawal.

He said that Tablighi Jaamat was one of the major reason “India is registering rapid Covid 19 positive cases now a days.”

Union Home Ministry also initiated move to blacklist 360 more foreigners who have participated in the Tablighi Jaamat conglomerate at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz.

“We have asked all states and UTs to take action against all foreigners who took part in the Tablighi Jaamat conglomerate. The action will be taken under Disaster Management Act and Foreigners Act,” said Puniya Salila Srivastava, joint secretary of the Home Ministry.

On Thursday, Home Ministry had blacklisted 960 foreigners for participating in the Tablighi Jaamat conglomerate in New Delhi and disturbing India’s effort to fight against Covid 19 pandemic.

Till Friday, India has reported 2547 Covid 19 cases across the country. AS many as 2322 cases are still active, 162 people have been cured and 62 people have died of the deadly disease.
