Former Asom Sahitya Sabha (ASS) president Dr Nagen Saikia received the 4th Rongbong Terang Integration Award on Sunday.

The award ceremony was held at Bakaliaghat Higher Secondary School premises in Karbi Anglong.

The award has been instituted by Chingthur Publication after Padmashree Rongbong Terang.

The award includes a cash award along with traditional Karbi turban and jacket, a xaraai and a citation.

Dr Saikia, receiving the award, said, “This award is an inspiration for me. I have no words to express my joy.”

“I thanked Chingthur Publication for selecting me for the award,” he added.

Dr Saikia further said that when he was the ASS general secretary, Rongbong Terang had received the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Award.

Padmashree Rongbong Terang along with Chingthur Publication adviser Bhaben Koch, Karbi Anglong Sahitya Sabha president Narendra Nath Hazarika and severe others were also present on the occasion.

Four books Urkha Paja Kavya of Rongbong Terang, Amrit Jijgyas of Thanuram Nath, Silveta Sakula of Bhaben Koch and Bhinna Sadar Sambhar of Gobin Mahanta were released on the occasion.

The first recipient of the Rongbong Terang Award was noted folklorist, litterateur and former ASS president Birendra Nath Datta.

Then it was conferred to noted Assamese litterateur and Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi.

The third Rongbong Terang Integration Award was conferred on renowned journalist, litterateur Homen Borgohain.
