Chief Secretaries of Assam and Mizoram – Jishnu Baruah and Lalnunmawia Chuaungo have been summoned by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla to New Delhi. 

The Chief Secretaries of the two states have been summoned by the Union Home Secretary over the clashes that broke out in the inter-state border on Monday. 

Assam chief secretary Jishnu Baruah has already left for New Delhi. 

At least five Assam police personnel and one civilian lost their lives after Mizoram police opened firing. 

Prior to that the Assam Police had reportedly resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse an agitating crowd that had gathered at both the sides.

Apart from the deceased, many on both the sides had sustained grievous injuries, of which condition of a few are stated to be critical. 

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that as many as 42 persons sustained injuries due to opening of fire by Mizoram Police. 

On the other hand, Mizoram CM Zoramthanga, on Tuesday, shared a picture of a youth in his twitter handle, saying that the youth suffered bullet wound because of firing by Assam Police and is undergoing treatment at Kolasib Civil Hospital.
