The two border guarding forces – Border Security Force (BSF) and Border guards of Bangladesh (BGB) –have agreed to jointly prevent trans-border crimes and pursue all pending development works to further strengthen the existing strong relations between the two countries.
The BSF and BGB agreed to work jointly in a nodal officers level meeting at Tamabil, on the Sylhet-Shillong road, bordering India’s Meghalaya and Bangladesh’s Sylhet on Thursday.
The BSF Meghalaya Frontier delegation was led by DIG, U K Nayal along with five other officials from India side, while from the Bangladesh side, five delegates were led by BGB North-East Region Sarail, Lt. Col. Abdul Kader Md Ashraf Ali Mamun.
In the meeting, various border related problems faced by both the border guarding forces like smuggling of cattle, drugs & narcotics, fake currency and other contraband items were discussed.
“The construction of ICP Dawki (Indian side) also figured in the discussion between nodal officers of the two border guarding forces. Both sides agreed to jointly prevent trans-border crimes and pursue all pending development works to further strengthen the existing strong relations between the two countries,” an official statement issued by the BSF Meghalaya Frontier said.
