In a major re-shuffle in the Assam Police Department, the Home Department of the Assam Government has issued a notification.
As per the notification issued by the Assam Home Department, Inspector General of Police (IGP) – Special Branch, Hiren Nath has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) – Special Branch.
Hiren Nath will take over charge as ADGP – Special Branch from Munna Prasad Gupta.
Meanwhile, ADGP – Special Branch, Munna Prasad Gupta has been transferred as the ADGP of Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Munna Prasad Gupta has been transferred as the ADGP – CID for the purpose of drawal of pay and allowances only against the vacant cadre post.
However, he will continue as the Commissioner of Guwahati Police.
On the other hand, Vineeta Sharma – Joint Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB) posted in the Headquarters of the Bureau in New Delhi (Counsellor, High Commission of India, Ottawa, Canada) has been allowed Performa Promotion in the rank of ADGP in level 15 of pay matrix.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh Kumar Singh – Deputy IGP / Head of Branch BSFB and ACB, CBI, Kolkata (On Central Deputation) is promoted to the rank of IGP.
Abhijit Bora – Deputy IGP has also been promoted to the rank of IGP (HG and CD), Guwahati, Assam.
