Eminent educationist and Magsaysay award winner Sonam Wangchuk has urged the people of the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) to seek education in their own language as the local language is the main source of uplift and development for a community.

Wangchuk had inspired Aamir Khan’s character Phunsukh Wangdu in the popular Bollywood movie ‘3 Idiots’.

Wanchuk is on a visit to BTR and attended the 53rd annual conference of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) at Gohpur in Biswanath district on Saturday.

“I extend my warm wishes and goodwill to the peoples of BTR area on behalf of the people of Kadam in Ladak region,” said Sonam Wanchuk.
