The last remaining cadres of the militant outfit Kuki National Liberation Army (KNLA) surrendered in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Friday.
The news has been confirmed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also holding the home portfolio.
The Kuki National Liberation Army (KNLA) cadres surrendered with arms during a surrender ceremony organised in the hill district of Assam.
Chief minister Sarma said the militant cadres joined the mainstream in a ceremony which was attended by a deputy inspector general (DIG) of police and the Karbi Anglong superintendent of police.
They handed over 17 weapons including 4 assault rifles to the DIG and Karbi Anglong SP, the Assam chief minister informed.
“Under the guidance of Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodiji & HM Shri@AmitShahji, we’ve had a major achievement towards permanent peace in Assam,” chief minister Sarma tweeted.
“Last remaining cadres of UPRF/KNLF(KUKI) surrendered & handed over 17 weapons including 4 assault rifles to DIG & SP, Karbi Anglong,” Sarma tweeted while sharing pictures of the surrender ceremony.
