Even as the death toll of animals in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) due to floods in Assam has touched 30, images emerged that show a Royal Bengal tiger ‘relaxing’ on a bed inside a house.
The tiger had apparently strayed out of the flooded national park and somehow ended up in a house near the national highway 37 in Kohora area.
In a series of tweets, the Wildlife Trust India stated that the tiger’s escapade from the flood-ravaged national park.
The WTI in its tweets said that the tiger was tired and hungry after struggling in the floods.
The owner of the house was alerted to his surprise guest when neighbours screamed at spotting the tiger entering his premises.

Forest officials said attempts were on to tranquilize the tiger and take it to safety.
“Veterinarian Dr Samshul Ali has been busy formulating a plan with the Assam forest department to tranquilise the tiger that “has entered a house and is relaxing on a bed,” WTI said in a tweet.
In another set of tweets, the WTI said that the tiger was spotted near the highway, 200 m from the park, at 8:30 am on Thursday as it escaped from the national park.
“Probably disturbed, he jumped across the wall of a scrap garage & took refuge in the dark room,” read another tweet.
The floods have dealt a severe blow to wild animals in the Kaziranga National Park where at least 30 animals have lost their lives since last week.
Nine of the 30 deaths were caused by vehicle hits when they were trying to make their way out of Kaziranga.
According to forest officials, over 95% area of the world heritage site was inundated by flood water.
