Japanese encephalitis (JE) till July 22 has claimed 110 lives in Assam.

According to the latest National Health Mission (NHM) data, with three more deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the total JE deaths in Assam have risen to 110.

The number of affected cases stands at 477.

To combat JE, the Assam health department has taken extensive measures.

Every district hospitals and medical colleges in the state have designated beds to accommodate JE and AES (acute encephalitis syndrome) cases.

Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sonitpur, Barpeta, Cachar, Golaghat, Kamrup (MT, Lakhimpur and Sivasagar districts have begun ventilator services to tackle JE cases.

The Assam government has put in place many emergency services for battling JE in the state.
