Md. Iftikar Seikh bagged the Gentleman Singles title defeating Anchit Gogoi 6-1, 6-2 in final in the 23rd India Club-Anup Lahoty Open Tennis Championship-2021 in Guwahati on Sunday.

The championship was organised by India Club, a premier tennis-playing club of the region under the auspices of All Assam Tennis Association (AATA).

In the Boys’ Singles (under 18 years) Anchit Gogoi clinched the title beating Ved Aditya Kalita 6-2, 6-1 in the while in the Girls’ Singles (under 18 years) Justina Buragohain won the title defeating Taniya Kumari 7-5, 6-4 in the finals respectively, the organizers said in a statement.

In the Boys’ Singles (under 14 years) Ved Aditya Kalita won the title beating Riyan Kashyap 6-2, 6-3 while in the Girls’ Singles (under 14 years) Adrika Rajkumari bagged the title defeating Roshni Bharadwaj in the finals.

In the Senior Gentlemen’s Doubles (above 35 years), Rajesh Barua and Shiv Kumar Prajapati won the title defeating Rajeeb Bora and Dilip Mohanaty 6-7, 6-1, 6-3.

In the Senior Gentlemen’s Doubles (above 45 years), Dr. Ankush Dutta and Biram Borkataky won the title beating Ashis Agarwal and Dipjyoti Barua 4-2, 4-2 in the finals, respectively.

In the Senior Gentlemen’s Doubles (above 55 years), Kalyan Kumar Das and Amlandeep Das clinched the title defeating Randip Barua and Rajib Handique 8-3 in the final.

In the closing function, Kalyan Kumar Das, tournament director, welcomed the gathering.

The assembled people observed one minute’s silence to condole the demise of senior member of India Club, Niloy Das, who passed away on January 23.

Prizes were distributed by Ranjan Kumar Choudhury, Ashok Kumar Das, Nazim Nesar Ahmed, Dr. Ashim Chowdury, Bijan Kumar Choudhuri, Biswadeep Bora, Bimal Bharali, Abani Barua and Kalyan Kumar Das.

Organising secretary Amalandeep Das offered the vote of thanks, the statement said.
