The city-based health and wellness news portal Fit Northeast successfully organized a Covid19 vaccination camp at Dakshin Barsajai Maidam Durga Mandir in Lalmati area of Guwahati.

This was the third vaccination camp organized by Fit Northeast in collaboration with the department of health and family welfare of Assam.

The camp witnessed a huge positive response from the local people with 272 people receiving jabs.

“I have come to take my second jab of Covishield vaccine here today. This camp has been organized very systematically as I have not found any difficulty in the entire process of registration, testing and vaccination,” said Ganesh Rohang, an archery coach from Assam, who stays in the neighbourhood of the vaccination centre.

“All the health staff and the supporting volunteers have been very cooperative,” said Sijo Jacob, founder of Fit North East, who was also present at the camp.

Speaking on the occasion, Jacob said, “This camp is being held following all the Covid protocol. We are vaccinating all those who are 18 years and above with Covishield doses. There is proper registration as well as Covid test facilities for all the beneficiaries.”

The vaccination process began at 10 AM and it continued till the vaccination of 200 people was complete, he added.

“I was informed by the secretary of the Barsajai Maidam Durga Mandir, Hiren Saharia that he was approached by Fit Northeast, asking for the space to organize a Covid19 vaccination camp.”

“There was no question that I could say no. It was in fact a matter of pride for us that we could offer our space to do such a camp. We are more than happy that we got a chance to do something for the betterment of mankind,” said the president of the Barsajai Maidam Durga Mandir, Akhil Chandra Goswami.

An audio announcement was made in the nearby areas prior to the programme which played a major role in attracting many locals to the camp.

The ratio of male and females were almost equal in the vaccination camp.

“I am very excited to take the vaccine and have faith that it will protect me from Covid,” said a 19-year-old girl named Ruhi, who came to the camp along with her mother.

Dr DD Mali was the most senior beneficiary who attended the camp along with his wife to take their second doses of vaccination.

The 85-year-old said, “I am completely satisfied with all the arrangements made in the camp. The medical staff giving the vaccination is very caring. Such camps are very beneficial to the society”.

Secretary of the temple, Hiren Saharia said, “We are happy to help so many people in getting their vaccination. We are looking for many more chances to serve the people in every good way. We are blessed that we got this great opportunity to offer space to Fit Northeast.”

“Even though there was no other Anganwadi worker or ANM to assist me today, I could smoothly vaccinate all the people. The beneficiaries were also satisfied and happy”, said Popi Das, the ANM who participated in the camp on Wednesday.
