Former Nagaland Chief Minister and NPF leader TR Zeliang has expressed hope that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will “continue to act as the catalyst in resolving the protracted Naga Political Issue”. 

TR Zeliang, leader of opposition in Nagaland, made this statement after meeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. 

Zeliang said: “… in his new capacity (Himanta Biswa Sarma as Assam CM) he’ll continue to act as the catalyst in resolving the protracted Naga Political Issue. As prominent figure in the NE region, under his leadership, not just Assam but the whole region will prosper.” 

TR Zeliang met Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati and congratulated him on being elected as the new Chief Minister of Assam. 

“Met the new Assam CM Shri @himantabiswa and congratulated him for the success in election and his elevation to greater responsibility as CM of the State. Also appreciated his commitment in the fight against COVID19 before and after assuming the Chair,” tweeted TR Zeliang.

Notably, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is also the convenor of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and has been actively involved in the Naga Peace Process.
