Assam finance minister and president of Badminton Association of India Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday congratulated P V Sindhu and Sai Praneeth for winning the gold and bronze respectively at the BWF World Championships.

Himanta took to Twitter to congratulate the two shuttlers at their stupendous success.

In his official Twitter hande, Himanta wrote:

PV Sindhu on Sunday creates history to become first Indian to win BWF World Championships gold.

Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in the women’s singles final in just 38 minutes on Sunday.

Sindhu’s gold is the second medal that India won at the Worlds this year with Sai Praneeth winning a bronze in men’s singles category.
