A city resident, injured in leopard attack at Dhirenpara, succumbed to his injuries at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday.

The 35-year old youth identified as Anwar Ali was seriously injured on Saturday when a stray leopard had mauled him while he was trying to save four persons from the attack of the leopard at Dhirenpara.

The leopard that sneaked into the area from the neighbouring hill went berserk injuring several residents.

Police had awarded Ali with Rs. 3000 on Sunday for trying to save the people from the attack.

Anwar was admitted in the ICU of GMCH following his injuries.

Family members of Anwar said that they could not collect blood due to scarcity of cash.

They further alleged that Ali died due to negligence in his treatment at the GMCH. Doctors in the hospitals however have denied the allegations.
