After successfully scaling the Mount Elbrus in Russia recently, Chetna Joshi, a mountaineer from Guwahati, aims at scaling the Mt. Everest by 2021.

Joshi is a gynaecologist, social worker and a mother of 20-yr-old son.

Jost has undergone training in the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS), a reputed institution which provides basic mountaineering course.

NIMAS is located at Dirang in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Talking to media persons in Guwahati Joshi said, “I want to summit all the important peaks along with Everest. However before leaving for Everest expedition, I have to train myself for it and I will now spend more time on it.”

Regarding her experience of scaling the Mt Elbrus summit in Russia, Joshi said she summited under extremely challenging condition amidst chilled wind.

Mount Elbrus is considered as the highest mountain in Europe, notwithstanding that the Caucasus mountains are at the intersection of Europe and Asia, and it is the tenth most prominent peak in the world.

Stating that the temperature was below 25 degree, Joshi said the condition was so worst that their summit was delayed by two days due to snow storm and high intensity wind.

The mountaineer aims at scaling all the ‘seven summits’ by 2021.

The seven summits comprise the highest mountains in the seven continents in the world.

These include Everest, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Aconcagua, Denali, Carstensz Pyramid and Vinson Massif.

Joshi also informed that after scaling the Mt Elbrus summit, they sent 30 minutes on it and trekked down to the base camp within three hours.

Earlier, Joshi attempted Mt Kun Ladakh (7,077 metres), Mt Anduri (5,942 meters) in Tochi Glacier, DKD2 in Uttarakhand.

She has successfully summited Mt Mahadev in Jammu & Kashmir and Island Peak in Nepal (6,189 metres) in 2017.
