Former Assam Congress MP Sushmita Dev has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Senior TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O’Brien welcomed Sushmita Dev into the party folds.

Earlier, All India Mahila Congress president and former Silchar MP, Sushmita Dev has quit the Congress party.
Dev has submitted her resignation letter to All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi.
She has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party.
With the resignation of Sushmita Dev, Congress has lost a prominent party leader in Assam’s Barak Valley.
In her resignation letter, issued on Sunday, former Silchar MP Sushmita Dev wrote: “Please treat this letter as my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress.”
It was earlier reported that Sushmita Dev, daughter of former Congress MP and Union minister Santosh Mohan Dev, would join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
