Assam’s Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary felt humiliation as he was debarred from enjoying the 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020 by the organizers on Saturday evening.

Daimary had to leave the star-studded mega event in the city on the ground that he did not carry a ‘valid’ ticket while entering the venue.

The 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020 mega event was organized at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati in association with the Assam government.

Daimary has blamed the organizers – The Times Group – for showing disrespect towards him and compelling him to leave the event.

Expressing his resentment over the issue at Tamulpur in Baksa district on the sidelines of a joining programme of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), Daimary termed The Times Group as ‘bepari’ (trader).

“When I went to the event, I was told by the people of The Times Group that my ticket was not issued by them. Then I told them that I was invited to the event with that ticket,” Daimary told reporters.

Daimary said the Assam government gave the contract of organizing the event to The Times Group against a huge amount of money.

“They are businessmen. They have not come to Assam because they love the place. They have come as they have been given a huge amount of money by our Assam government. So they had an eye on my ticket too. They were not bothered whether an MP would get to sit or not. Yesterday’s event was just a traders’ programme,” said Daimary.
