As many as eight areas along the sensitive Assam-Mizoram border have been declared as “no drone zone”. 

The announcement was made by Kolasib district administration in Mizoram. 

With this, use of drones in these eight areas under the jurisdiction of the Kolasib district administration have been prohibited. 

Notably, tensions along the Assam-Mizoram border have been at an all-time high, ever since the Monday’s bloody clash, where six Assam Police personnel and a civilian lost their lives, and scores of others injured on both sides.

The Kolasib district administration in Mizoram has also issued a public notice saying that no restriction will be imposed on the movement of non-residents of the state in the district.  

“…there shall be no restriction on the movement on Non-Residents of Mizoram travelling through Kolasib district,” Kolasib deputy commissioner Dr H Lalthangliana stated in the notice.  

The notice adds: “Mizo residents are also advised to allow no disturbance and cause no harm to non-locals within Kolasib district in connection with the inter-state boundary issue at the Mizoram-Assam border.”
