Two earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 and 3.8 hit parts of the Northeast region in a span of 30 minutes on Monday, National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.

The first earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck south Assam’s Cachar district at midnight at 2:11 am.

According to the District Disaster Management Authority, the depth of the quake was 35 kms across 24.7 N latitude and 92.72 E longitude of the district.

The DDMA authorities said that there was no damage reported so far from anywhere in the district, however, they are analyzing the impact.

The second earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale jolted the Kangpokpi area in Manipur.

The depth of the quake was 20 kms across 25.16 N latitude and 93.90 E longitude of the district.

Assam had on January 6 reported another quake of magnitude 3.2 in Sonitpur.
