Dibrugarh police on Thursday picked Dr Siddhi Prasad Deuri’s children for interrogation in connection with the alleged pouring of hot water on a 12-year minor while he was sleeping on the floor of their residence in Dibrugarh on August 27.

They have been identified as Priyankshu and Upasana Deuri.

Talking to Northeast Now, Dibrugarh ASP(HQ) Padmanav Baruah said, “We have picked up son and daughter of Dr Siddhi Prasad Deuri for interrogation.”

“They tried to hide the evidence that why we have picked up both of them. Our police team is searching for Dr Siddhi Prasad Deuri and his wife Mitali Konwar. We will take strict action against them as per law,” the police said.

According to sources, the minor was sleeping on the floor at the residence of Dr Siddhi Prasad Deori on August 27 when the Dr Deori poured hot water on him.

The minor was later rescued by a joint team of Childline, Child welfare Committee and police from the residence on August 29.

Dibrugarh police on Wednesday went to arrest Dr Siddhi Prasad Deori’s at his residence with a  team from Milan Nagar police outpost. They have to wait for hours to enter his residence.

After waiting for hours, police informed Magistrate that they climbed the gate but could not find the trace of either Dr Deuri or his wife Mitali Konwar.
