COVID19 positive

A total of 31 Assam Police personnel of various ranks, including a superintendent of police (SP), have been infected by COVID19.

This was confirmed by Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) of Assam Police, GP Singh.

The top Assam Police officer informed that all the infected cops, who are of different ranks, are in good health.

On behalf of the department he wished the police personnel early recovery from the disease.

“A SP rank officer of @assampolice and 30 other ranks have tested Covid positive. They are all in good health. We wish them an early and full recovery. We rededicate ourselves to the service of the people of Assam,” Singh tweeted on Saturday.

Along with the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and media personnel, the police personnel also continue to work as Corona warriors risking their lives.

Assam Police on its official Twitter handle while sharing Singh’s tweet also wished speedy recovery of the infected police personnel.

“We wish our #CoronaWarriors a speedy recovery and once again, reiterate our commitment to ensure the well-being of our citizens in these testing times! Together, we shall overcome!”, it said.

On Saturday, Assam registered 246 more COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s total tally to 7,165.

This was confirmed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status.

“Alert ~ 246 new #COVID19+ cases detected in Assam today,” health minister Sarma said.

With the new cases, Assam currently has 2,338 active cases.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 10 persons in Assam while 3 cases migrated from the state.
