The COVID19 death toll in Assam has increased to 64 with the demise of 6 more positive patients on Tuesday while 938 other patients recovered from the disease on the day.

Confirming the death of the 6 COVID19 positive patients, Assam health minister in a tweet on Tuesday said out of the 6 victims, two are from Kamrup Metro, two others are from Kamrup Rural and one each from Darrang and Dibrugarh districts.

The COVID19 victims have been identified as Rekha Dutta (63) from Darrang; Mona Das (51) from Dibrugarh; Sister Florence (74) from Kamrup Metro; Mukiv Ali (65) from Kamrup Rural; Ramesh Ch Dekha (67) from Kamrup Rural and Bulin Begum (44) from Kamrup Metro.

The health minister confirmed that all these six patients “succumbed to COVID19”.

Meanwhile, health minister Sarma informed that on Tuesday, a total of 938 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals after they tested negative for the virus.

“Discharge Alert. 938 patients have been discharged today,” Sarma tweeted, adding, “Patients returning home healthy are our beacon of hope.”

With the release of 938 patients on Tuesday, the total number of COVID19 patients discharged from the hospitals in Assam increased to 18,033.

Assam currently has 6,992 active COVID19 patients while 3 cases migrated from the state.
