The Tezpur University has directed its students to vacate hostels by April 23 in view of the current increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases inside the varsity campus.

The varsity authorities, however, have exempted the final year post-graduate and undergraduate students and Ph.D. research scholars.

“All PG/UG students except final year and Ph. D students of the University shall have to leave the campus on or before 23.04.2021. They shall vacate their occupied rooms with bag and baggage, or they can keep their belongings in a safer place inside the hostel,” said P Deka, Dean, Students’ Welfare of Tezpur University, said in a notification.

The students have been asked to deposit their room keys to the Caretaker/Security personnel of the hostel before leaving.

“Final year PG/UG students can stay inside the campus till 29th April 2021 with all COVID-19 protocol as notified earlier. They have to complete their research/laboratory works by that time and shall vacate their occupied rooms with bag and baggage by 30th April, 202,” Deka said.

Regarding room vacation of Ph.D. students will be notified soon, he said.

International students will be allowed to stay back in their respective hostels till further notification, said the notification.
