A Tezpur youth, residing abroad for higher studies, has been confined in Crete Island of Greece due to Covid-19.

Kaustav Bora, son of Dilip Bora and Swapnali Bora of Hozorapar area in Assam’s Tezpur in Sonitpur district, has been studying Computer science and Data science at Drexel University in Pennsylvania-Philadelphia, USA since 2017.

Earlier, he had studied at Tezpur University.

He recently shifted migrated to Crete University of Greece for an exclusive study on the particular subject.

However, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak across the globe, he has been confined in the island and has not been able to return India due to certain foreign legal issues.

As per family sources, his study visa will expire on March 23.

At this juncture, the brilliant student is in a major dilemma.

Through a video, Kaustav has appealed to the Indian government, the Assam government and the authorities concerned to help him return back to India and be with his family in Tezpur.

“Though he is corresponding with the Indian Embassy in USA, he is not getting any response,” Kaustav’s father Dilip Bora said.

Kaustav’s father has urged the Indian government through the Sonitpur deputy commissioner, Manavendra Pratap Singh, to extend a helping hand to his son in this regard.

“I have already emailed a prayer to the Prime Minister of India to intervene into the matter,” said Dilip Bora.

“The deputy commissioner has also assured to give all possible support in this case and write to the government of India,” he mentioned.
