The Central govermnet on Tuesday said it would consult the governments of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh before the signing of the Naga peace deal.

Union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy said in the Lok Sabha that there has been considerable progress in the ongoing Naga peace talks.

He said almost all the Naga insurgent groups are engaged with the Central government in the negotiation process.

Replying to a written question in the parliament he said, “All stakeholders, including the states of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, will be duly consulted before any settlement is arrived at with the Naga groups and their concerns taken into consideration.”

The ongoing Naga peace process, which was started in 1997, turned 22 this year.
