In two separate operations, BSF troops under Guwahati Frontier on Monday seized Yaba tablets, Phensedyl, and ganja from Indo-Bangla border areas in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar and West Bengal’s Coochbehar district.

The seized items include 920 Yaba tablets, 200 bottles of Phensedyl, and 5 kg of ganja.

Acting on a tip-off, on Monday, BSF troops under Border Outpost (BOP) Diara of 6 Bn BSF carried out a special operation in the general area of Kalabari village under Mankachar PS under South Salmara Mankachar district in Assam.

“At about 1:25 am on Monday, a suspicious movement was observed by the troops and on being challenged, the miscreants fled away from the spot, taking advantage of darkness and throwing the consignment,” said the BSF Guwahati Frontier PRO.

“The special operation party recovered 920 Yaba tablets and the seized item has been handed over to the Mankachar PS for further legal action,” the BSF PRO added.

In the second operation, on a tip-off, BSF troops under BOP Amrit of 47 Bn BSF carried out a special operation in the general area of Muslimpara village under Sitalkuchi PS in West Bengal’s Coochbehar district.

“At about 3:30 am, a suspicious movement was observed by the troops and on being challenged, the miscreants fled away from the spot, taking advantage of darkness and throwing the consignment,” the BSF PRO said in a statement.

The special operation party recovered 200 bottles of Phensedyl and 5 Kg of ganja.

The seized items have been handed over to the Sitalkuchi PS for further legal action, the BSF PRO said.

BSF said keeping in view the vulnerability of the international border and to prevent smuggling and other anti-national activities on the border, the BSF troops always remain alert.

It said the troops are making all-out efforts to prevent trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration through the Indo-Bangladesh border.
