In operations, troops of Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler and rescued 83 cattle heads from the bordering areas of West Bengal’s Coochbehar district and Assam’s Dhubri and South Salmara districts on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, troops of BSF BOP Jhalachar of 06 Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier carried out a special operation in the general area of Chairgram village in under Manchachar Police Station in South Salmara district of Assam and apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler along with cattle heads.

These heads were en-route to Bangladesh from India.

The apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Nurul Hoque (30)- a resident  Namargram village in South Salmara.

The apprehended cattle smuggler along with cattle heads have been handed over to the Manchachar police for further legal action.

Besides, vigilant Seema Praharis of BSF has also rescued 83 cattle heads in various other operations from bordering areas of Coochbehar,  Dhubri and South Salmara while these were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration and are making all endeavours to contain such trans-border crimes.
