Bongaigaon ensured a berth in the final of the Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament for Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy by tossing the coin after the semi-final against Silchar held at Mangaldai Stadium was wrapped up on Monday without even completion of a single innings.

As the two days of the match spoiled due to soggy outfield following overnight rains, a total of 74.1 overs were bowled on the third and final day on Monday where batting first Silchar scored 219 runs in their first innings.

For Silchar, Abhisek Thakuria top scored with a quick fire of 55 (32) runs while Pritom Das scored 45 runs, Rajdeep Das scored 29 runs and Arunabha Sarma scored the rest runs for their team.

Sunil Ranjam Gogoi (4/70), Pritam Talukdar (2/27) and Pallab Das (2/49) were the major wicket takers for the Bongaigaon team.

In reply, Bongaigaon scored 47 runs for loss of one wicket in 13 overs in their first innings when the match was called off and declared draw.

Finally, the result was decided by tossing of the coin where lady luck smiled on Bongaigaon.

However, there was a goof up in the announcement of the result.

Earlier, Silchar was declared as the winner which was also carried by North East Now on Monday.

However, the organizers later clarified that the toss deciding the winner went in favour of Bongaigaon and not Silchar.
