To ensure participation of the people of BTAD in the Bodo Accord celebration programme at Kokrajhar, the Assam government has declared February 7 as a public holiday.
The Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) has a total of four districts including Kokrajhar, Baksa, Udalguri and Chirang.

The third Bodo Accord celebration programme on February 7 will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As per the order, issued by the Assam government on Tuesday, all the state government offices within the jurisdiction of the Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri districts will remain closed on Friday.

The order said: “The Governor of Assam is pleased to declare 7th February 2020 as public holiday in view of celebration of “Bodo Accord” in the districts of BTAD – Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri for enabling participation of people.”
“All State Government offices within the Jurisdiction of above-mentioned districts will remain closed on that day,” it added.
As per the Accord, the BTAD will now be known as the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The grand event will be held at Jangkrithai Fwthar in Kokrajhar district on Friday to mark the celebration of the signing of the third Bodo Accord.
The Assam government, as well as the ruling Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), have lined up a cultural extravaganza to mark the occasion of the signing of the historic Accord.

Modi is scheduled to address a huge gathering on the occasion.
More than 4,00,000 people from the BTAD districts and other parts of Assam are expected to attend the programme.
The third Bodo Accord was signed with all the four factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) which had been demanding a separate state for the Bodos.
The historic Accord was signed on January 27 this year in New Delhi in presence of union home minister Amit Shah and top leaders of the Bodos.
Prime Minister Modi in a tweet termed the signing of the Accord a historic step for ushering in lasting peace in Assam’s Bodoland and in the state as a whole.
