Proscribed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) has claimed the responsibility of the low intensity blast in Guwahati that left four injured on Saturday. The ULFA C-in-C Paresh Baruah called up local TV channels and confirmed the outfit’s involvement in the blast.

A bomb blast rocked the busy Panbazar area on Saturday afternoon in Guwahati.

The blast happened in the vicinity of Panbazar police station behind the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMC).

A few people were reported to be injured in the blast. They were shifted to MMC hospital for treatment.

Time: 12: 45 pm

Four people were injured in the blast. They were Kalpa Jyoti Talukdar, Sangku Das, Taifuddin Ahmed, Binita Das.

Ranjan Bhuyan, DCP (Central) said, “We cannot certainly tell for sure if it a bomb yet, only after preliminary investigations from the bomb squad, we cant tell for sure.”

Assam Police rules out IED/Bomb blast.

A bus was coming from the Fancy Bazar side, when the blast happened. People were injured when the glass of the bus shattered. The driver was also injured.  Bomb squad has not reached the spot yet.

All the injured people are safe now. When the blast took place, two motorbike borne people were hit by bricks and they fell unconscious.

A concrete wall was damaged in the impact of the explosion.

DGP Kula Saikia has reached the bomb blast spot with the bomb squad.
