Ruling BJP MLA Mrinal Saikia has raised questions over the highly-publicised Assam Cabinet scheduled to be held at Dhemaji on Thursday (Sept 30).

While sharing a screenshot of a TV news report on the Assam Cabinet meeting to be held in Dhemaji on his Twitter handle, the Khumtai MLA raised questions over the spending of a huge amount of money in the name of holding the Cabinet.

He said “holding of Cabinet in a remote district is great” but questioned over the “pompous” (‘jaakjomokota’) way of holding the same.

Saikia also questioned over the carrying of journalists from Guwahati to Dhemaji just for publicising the Cabinet meeting.

He said the public always welcomes the decisions taken by the State Cabinet and there was no need for “extravaganza”.

“Saikia said: “Holding of Cabinet in a remote district is great but what is the need of spending money in ‘jaakjomokota’ and carrying journalist from Guahati to publicise it.Decisisions of Cabinet has always been welcomed by public without such extravaganza,” the BJP MLA tweeted.
