The cancer patients and their attendants, who are being brought to Guwahati from Mumbai in six buses, are scheduled to arrive at the city on Monday night.

Joint resident commissioner of Assam Bhawan, Mumbai, Devasish Sharma, who is accompanying the patients, said that 132 patients and attendants are travelling by bus and they are all fit and fine.

“The only problem is that we have to stop the buses at frequent intervals that has slowed down our progress. But there is nothing to worry,” Assam Tribune quoted Sharma as saying.

The Assam government provided a one-time financial assistance to three categories of patients including cancer stranded outside the State due to the nationwide lockdown.
