Amid the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, the people of Assam residing in Pune celebrated E-Rongali Bihu.

Assamese people residing in Pune witnessed a wonderful evening on Friday, with the celebration of Rongali Bihu in a very unique way.

Amid the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, the people of Assam residing in Pune celebrated E-Rongali Bihu.

Celebrated in mid-April, Rongali Bihu also called as Xaat Bihu is a festival celebrated in Assam, and marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year.

Respecting the lockdown across the country, under the banner of Asomi, Assamese diaspora in Pune, celebrated E-Rongali Bihu from their home on April 17 evening.

The function was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp and Assamese Jatiya Sangeet– ‘O mor apunaar desh’.

Celebration started almost a week back, with various competitions- Mou Kuwari, Xaajpar Competition, singing and playing instrument competition and others.

It was a celebrity and star studded E-Bihu. Several Assamese celebrities including singers Saju, Vreegu Kashyap (Bhrigu Kashyap), Antara  & Ankita “Nandi Sisters”, Neel Akash Das, Aryaneel Bora, Dholar Ojha Prasanna Gogoi, Anupam Bordoloi, actor Arun Hazarika and  Sanjeev Narayan, MD, Prag News were present throughout the programme.

Audiences were mesmerized with the performance of each artist. Around one hundred people participated in this unique way of celebration.

People from across the country and abroad also participated in the E-event.

Technical team of Asomi and Cultural team along with the Asomi committee worked very hard to put the gears together to make the E-celebration into a mega virtual event.
