Manipur Assam: Youth assaulted by armed gang in Bongaigaon

Guwahati: A man in Bongaigaon, Assam was allegedly assaulted by an armed gang on Sunday.

According to reports, the incident took place in the Old Colony area of Bongaigaon.

The person assaulted by the gang was identified as Ratul Medhi.

He alleged that he was assaulted by a group of seven armed individuals.

However, the exact reason behind the assault was not reported.

The incident began with an argument that quickly escalated into physical violence, with one of the assailants firing a blank shot into the air.

Medhi reportedly managed to apprehend one of the attackers with his father’s help and identified several of the individuals involved.

Two of them were identified as Rony Das and Prasenjit Banerjee.

The Bongaigaon police have launched an investigation and recovered a pistol, three live bullets, and incriminating materials, including laptops, from the vehicle involved, which is registered in Rony Das’ name.

Prasenjit Banerjee has been arrested in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

A source stated that the incident may have been a result of an alleged personal enmity.
