Assam Women’s University on Friday organized a webinar on “Beyond Stereotypes: Exploring Possibilities of Reading North-East Literatures”.

Professor Esther Syiem from the Department of English of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong was the keynote speaker of the webinar, which was organized by the department of English of the varsity.

In her keynote address, Syiem expressed her concerns regarding the parameters of reading and writing from this territory with special emphasis on oral literature from Northeast India.

Dr. Prashanta Puzari, HoD (i/c) of the department of English and another speaker of the webinar delivered his lecture on emerging voices of Adivasi literature from Assam.

Another Speaker of the webinar Ms. Mompi Choudhury, Faculty Member of the department of English, AWU addressed the issues of subaltern representation in Assamese fiction.

Tapan Kr. Gohain, Registrar of AWU was the Distinguished Guest of the webinar. Parthiva Nandan Saikia, Faculty Member of the department of English of AWU coordinated the entire webinar.

Atrayee Kashyap, Faculty Member of the department of English of AWU offered the vote of thanks.

Students, Research scholars and teachers from various colleges and universities across India attended the webinar.
