In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old woman committed suicide with her two children on Thursday morning by jumping in front of a train at Taltal near Pathsala in lower Assam’s newly created Bajali district.
The woman identified as Minuwara Begum, wife of Hanif Ali, a resident of Rajaghat area under Pathsala police outpost, and their two children died on the spot.
The children were aged seven and two years.
“It appears to be a case of suicide. The woman and her two minor daughters have succumbed to the injuries,” said a police official.
The police official said that there was some marital discord between the woman and her husband.
However, what led the woman take the extreme step is still being investigated.
The bodies were recovered from the railway tracks and have been sent for postmortem, the official added.
