Startling revelation of alleged nepotism in the appointment of assistant enforcement inspectors in Transport department of Assam’s BTC surfaced where it appears being in the good books of BPF can secure anyone a job.
This came days after United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) had alleged of flouting of constitutional norms in appointment of eight assistant enforcement inspectors in Transport department of BTC.
In the latest updates it is revealed that out of the eight appointees seven are directly associated with BPF leaders and are wards of officials serving in BTC.
Ronnel Robinson Muchahari posted at DTO Udalguri is the son of former BTC principal secretary, Robinson Muchahari.
Kiutu Narzary is the daughter of Kokrajhar DICC office bearer Rahitaswar Narzary known to be close associate of BPF president, Hagrama Mohilary.
Another appointee Bhaskar Swrang Basumatary is the son of Ringshar Basumatary, an inspector of Excise Department posted at Chirang.
Nichols Basumatary is the son of Rajendra Basumatary who is serving as council head of department of Excise Department of BTC posted at Kokrajhar.
Another appointee Howait Rajbongshi is the nephew of Madhab Rajbongshi, personal assistant of former BTC executive member of Transport, Jagdish Sarkar.
While another appointee Sonali Mahilary is a relative of BPF president Hagrama Mohilary.
Kajib Basumatary is the nephew of former executive member of BTC, Rajib Brahma.
Earlier, Prithviraj Mech, the UPPL leader had alleged that the recruitment of the eight assistant enforcement inspectors were done without any conducting any interview or approval or appointment recommend action of Central Selection Board(CSB) of BTC.
The appointment order is signed by Joint Commission er of Transport, BTC, A Ch Deori reads, “In pursuance to the approval of the BTC vide letter no. Trans -542/2020/5 Dated March 03rd March/2020 in the interest of public service the following candidates are hereby engaged on fixed pay basis @ Rs.9000 only as Assistant Enforcement Inspector in the offices of four district DTO offices under BTC area .”
It further reads that the appointment is purely on temporary basis and can be terminated at anytime without assigning any reason and notice there of.
Pertinently all the appointments and recruitments in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) are handled by Central Selection Board(CSB) which is headed by a chairman and members.
Sources stated that advertisement, examinations, appointment are held by the board for appointment to various posts but while recruitment of the eight assistant enforcement inspectors, the CSB had not been consulted.
The chairman of CSB, Rajendra Nath Brahma has also confirmed that while recruitment of these appointees the board was not consulted nor has there been any official communication to the CSB in this regard.
Former executive member of BTC, Jagadish Sarkar couldn’t be reached despite repeated attempts.
