The sleuths of vigilance and anti-corruption wing of Assam police on Thursday arrested two employees attached with the Bihpuria Revenue Circle Office in north Assam’s Lakhimpur district while accepting a bribe.

The arrested persons have been identified as Biswajeet Saikia, a Lat Mandal and Monjyoti Saikia, a broker.

Biswajeet was caught red-handed while taking a bribe from one person who had applied for land documents at the office.

Biswajeet allegedly demanded Rs 55,000 from the applicant.

Corruption by various officials of land revenue circle offices in the Lakhimpur district has been affecting the public for a long time.
