Haflong: A tower crane collapse at the Dalmia Cement Limited’s Line-2 project construction site in Umrongso of Dima Hasao, Assam injured seven workers on Saturday evening.

Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

The incident occurred around 6:30 pm, but the crane did not directly fall on the workers.

Injuries were sustained during the escape process.

Five seriously injured workers were referred to HAMM Hospital and Research Centre in Hojai district, where one remains under observation in the ICU.

Two workers with minor injuries are recovering and will be discharged soon.

Umrongso police station SHO Insp Anjan Boro confirmed that an investigation will be initiated soon.

The construction work at the Line-2 project site has been put on hold, but the primary/Line-1 project remains unaffected.

Over 5,000 labourers are engaged in the project, but the exact number of workers present during the accident is unknown.

Officials from Dalmia Cement Limited have yet to release a statement regarding the incident.
