The Assam government has decided to reopen the schools and all other educational institutes in the state from January 1, 2021.
“All institutes from elementary to university level will be resuming normal functioning from January 1,” education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.
Though all educational institutes are reopening in Assam, the nursery and primary level classes will be conducted in a staggered manner from January 1 to avoid overcrowding in the classrooms and maintain proper social distancing.
The schools will be reopening in Assam after more than 10 months.
All schools and colleges in Assam have remained closed since March 25 this following the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
