During the journey, he passed through at least 16 districts of the state, covering a distance of more than 830 km in one week.

With an aim to spread awareness among students on mental health impairment triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown, a teacher from Tezpur University has completed his bicycle ride from Assam’s Sadiya to Dhubri in seven days.

On December 24, Sanjib Sahoo, who teaches English at the university, embarked on the bicycle journey at Dhola–Sadiya Bridge (Bhupen Hazarika Setu) in the Tinsukia district and completed the tour on Wednesday in western Assam’s Dhubri.

During the journey, he passed through at least 16 districts of the state, covering a distance of more than 830 kms.

“The students of colleges and universities were badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown. The pandemic impacted their mental health considerably. So to raise awareness among the students on mental health issues, I decided to undertake the bicycle tour,” Sahu said.

Sahoo, who took cycling as a hobby, has a plan to complete another bicycle ride from Dhubri to Sadiya through the southern bank of Brahmaputra.
