Students of Phaluguri Nayapara Government Lower Primary (LP) School in Kokrajhar district of Assam were compelled to take classes under a tree when classes resumed after summer vacation.
This happened as their school building totally collapsed on July 23 last after being hit by the recent wave of flood.
Established and provincialised in 2009, the school building was washed away by the Gongia river that flows down from Bhutan.
The school has in total of 46 students studying from classes nursery to Class V.
They are taught by two teachers one of whom is the headmaster of the school Taffojal Ali Mandal and the second teacher is Nur Zamal.
Talking to reporters, Taffojal Ali Mandal said, “Flood has been affecting the school since the last three years. And on July 23, the school building collapsed in the flood.”
“I have already informed the authorities about the situation and asked them to take necessary steps,” he added.
